What’s not to love about Poipu, Kauai? Poipu Beach has been voted the Best Beach on Kauai in many different Travel Magazines and websites over the years. Its white sand crescent shaped beaches start at the Sheraton Hotel and wraps all the way to Brennecke’s Beach, also known as one of the best body surfing spots on Kauai.
There are a variety of fine hotels and resorts in Poipu including the popular Kiahuna Plantation Resort, Koa Kea Resort, The Waiohai Resort, and the Grand Hyatt.
Located on the sunny side of Kauai, Poipu gets only about 20 inches of rain a year, versus 100 inches in Hanalei (North Shore). Here in Poipu, we consider rain showers a blessing, but generally you can expect some of the best weather on the Island.
There is no shortage of access to goods and services in Poipu either. You can get everything you need right here, from places like the Poipu Shopping Village, the Kukuiula Shopping Center, the Old Kukuiula Store which has reinvented itself as a health food store and Old Koloa Town just a few minutes drive from Poipu. There are many top-rated restaurants in Poipu and a ton of things to do – from snorkeling, surfing, boating, scuba diving, biking and so much more. From tour boat operators, botanical gardens and adventure and equipment rental companies – you will have a wide variety of activities to engage in while visiting or living in Poipu. The Koloa Heritage Trail is great for learning about Koloa’s history.
Don’t forget to visit Old Koloa Town for great eats, shopping and culture. And sometimes a book on the beach is just what the doctor ordered too!
